Helping children grow up knowing the stories that belong to them.
HeritageNest is a growing digital home for children’s stories rooted in culture, language, history, identity and imagination. We are creating a place where families can discover stories that help children understand where they come from and carry that knowledge with them wherever they live.
HeritageNest began with Nana Ama.
HeritageNest was founded by Nana Ama around a simple but important idea: children should have meaningful ways to know their heritage, understand their identity and remain connected to the cultures they come from.
Stories are one of the most natural ways to make that connection. Through stories, children can meet the people who came before them, discover languages and traditions, understand history and still enjoy the imagination and adventure that make reading exciting.
HeritageNest is being built as a place where those stories can live, grow and remain accessible to families across generations and across the world.
Growing up should not mean growing away from your heritage.
Families move. Languages change. Children grow up far from the communities their parents and grandparents knew.
Over time, stories, traditions and cultural knowledge can become harder to pass from one generation to the next.
HeritageNest exists to help keep that connection alive.
We want children to encounter culture as something living and familiar, not something distant they only learn about later in life. Through engaging books and digital reading experiences, HeritageNest brings history, language, people, traditions and imagination closer to children.
Beginning with books. Growing into something much bigger.
HeritageNest is starting simply: helping families discover, purchase and read culturally grounded children’s books online. But the long-term vision goes further.
A digital library of stories
Families can discover books across culture, history, language, legends, important people and original fiction, purchase the stories they want and read them online through their HeritageNest library.
More stories. More voices.
HeritageNest will continue to grow its collection across languages, communities, countries and cultures, creating more ways for children to discover both their own heritage and the heritage of others.
Learning beyond the bookshelf
Over time, the HeritageNest world can expand into deeper language learning, curriculum-based resources, educational experiences and tools for families and schools.
Heritage should feel alive.
It should be something children recognise, enjoy and feel part of.
That is why HeritageNest uses storytelling at the centre of the experience. A child may begin with a folktale, an adventure or the story of a remarkable person, and along the way discover language, places, traditions, history and ideas that help them understand their world.
Learning happens through the story rather than sitting separately from it.
Four ideas sit at the heart of HeritageNest.
Culture
Keeping traditions, histories and everyday cultural experiences visible, relevant and meaningful.
Identity
Helping children understand where they come from and feel confident in who they are.
Storytelling
Carrying knowledge, language and heritage from one generation to another through stories children want to read.
